Context
This Document Outlines Our Culture
Culture isn't just a buzzword at NCC.Health—it's the foundation of everything we do. This deck serves as your roadmap to understanding what makes our team special, the values we hold dear, and the behaviors that drive our success.
Whether you're a current team member, a prospective hire, or a manager seeking to understand how we operate, you'll find clarity on what it means to be part of our mission. These pages reflect our commitment to creating an environment where personalized healthcare thrives through collaboration, innovation, and genuine care.
A Team Member Does Not Need to Meet Every Criteria to Fit In or Feel Welcomed
We're building a culture of inclusion, not perfection. While we hold high standards, we recognize that no single person embodies every trait perfectly—and that's okay. What matters most is your willingness to grow, contribute, and align with our core mission.
If you see yourself in many of these values and behaviors, you'll likely thrive here. If some areas are works in progress, that's expected. We're all on a journey of continuous improvement. What we ask is that you bring authenticity, effort, and a genuine desire to deliver exceptional patient care.
Our doors are open to those who share our vision and are ready to roll up their sleeves alongside us.
We Care About Chipping In, Having a Go & Taking Actions Towards Improvement
At NCC.Health, we value action over perfection. We're not looking for people who wait for the perfect plan or the perfect moment. We're looking for team members who step up, contribute ideas, and aren't afraid to try new approaches even when the path isn't completely clear.
"Chipping in" means being a proactive contributor—someone who sees what needs to be done and does it without being asked. "Having a go" means embracing calculated risks and learning from both successes and setbacks. "Taking actions towards improvement" means constantly seeking ways to do better for our patients and each other.
If you're someone who prefers to sit on the sidelines or waits for detailed instructions before moving, this might not be the right fit. We need teammates who bring energy, initiative, and a bias toward action.
Culture Is Very Important to Us
We don't view culture as a nice-to-have or something to address when convenient. Culture is the operating system that powers everything we do. It shapes how we treat patients, how we collaborate with colleagues, and how we make decisions under pressure.
A strong culture attracts the right people and repels those who wouldn't thrive here. It creates psychological safety where team members feel empowered to speak up, innovate, and challenge the status quo. It ensures consistency in patient care even as we grow and evolve.
That's why we invest significant time and energy into defining, communicating, and living our cultural values. It's why this deck exists. And it's why we expect every team member—from day one—to take ownership of nurturing and protecting what makes NCC.Health special.
We Are Trying to Build & Accomplish Something Special
NCC.Health isn't just another healthcare organization going through the motions. We're on a mission to fundamentally change how patients experience healthcare—moving from one-size-fits-all approaches to truly personalized, holistic solutions.
This kind of transformation doesn't happen by accident. It requires exceptional people who bring their A-game every single day. It demands creativity, resilience, and an unwavering commitment to excellence. It means pushing boundaries and challenging conventions that no longer serve patients well.
If you're content with the status quo or looking for a comfortable, predictable workplace, we're probably not the right match. But if you're energized by the prospect of building something meaningful—something that genuinely improves lives—you're exactly who we're looking for.
Therefore, We Require a Special Group of People
We Will Play Our Game, Our Way
Building something special requires special people. We're not interested in simply copying what others have done or following industry conventions just because "that's how it's always been done." We're charting our own course, and that requires teammates with the courage to think differently.
Playing our game, our way, means we're unapologetic about our standards and our approach. We don't compromise on quality. We don't cut corners on patient care. We don't tolerate mediocrity. And we don't apologize for having high expectations.
This isn't arrogance—it's clarity. We know what we're building, we know what it takes to get there, and we're committed to bringing together people who share that vision and determination. If you're ready to be part of something extraordinary, welcome to the team.
Our Mission
We Exist to Help Patients Get Personal, Customized Healthcare
One Size Does Not Fit All
Every patient is unique—with different genetics, lifestyles, health histories, goals, and challenges. Yet traditional healthcare often treats everyone the same, applying standardized protocols without accounting for individual circumstances.
We reject that approach. At NCC.Health, we're committed to understanding each patient as a whole person, not just a collection of symptoms. We take the time to listen deeply, ask the right questions, and design care plans tailored to each individual's specific needs and aspirations.
This mission guides every decision we make: who we hire, how we train, which technologies we adopt, and how we measure success. When in doubt, we always return to this question: "Does this serve our mission of delivering personalized, patient-centered care?"
We Are Here to Build a Great Team
Great patient outcomes don't happen in isolation—they're the result of great teamwork. We're building an organization where talented individuals come together, leverage each other's strengths, and accomplish far more collectively than they ever could alone.
A great team is built on trust, mutual respect, and shared purpose. It's a place where people feel valued for their contributions and supported in their growth. Where healthy debate is encouraged, but everyone rallies behind decisions once they're made. Where success is celebrated together and setbacks are learning opportunities, not blame games.
Building this kind of team is intentional work. It requires hiring carefully, communicating openly, addressing issues promptly, and continuously investing in our people and culture. This deck is one piece of that effort—helping everyone understand what it means to be a great teammate at NCC.Health.
To Be a Great Team Player, You Need To Be:
Great teammates don't just show up—they embody specific values and behaviors that elevate everyone around them. The following pages outline our five core values that define what it means to be part of the NCC.Health team.
These aren't just words on a wall. They're living principles that guide how we interact with patients, collaborate with colleagues, make decisions, and measure success. When you join our team, you're committing to uphold these values in everything you do.
Our Foundation
Our Values
Caring
We treat patients like family
Innovative
We find better ways forward
Holistic
We see the whole person
Effective
We deliver real results
Passionate
We bring energy daily
These five values form the DNA of NCC.Health. They inform our hiring decisions, shape our training programs, and provide a framework for evaluating performance. In the following sections, we'll explore each value in detail—what it means, why it matters, and how it shows up in daily practice.
Value #1
Caring
What Caring Means to Us
  • We treat patients like family
  • All our actions are genuine
  • If it isn't sufficient for loved ones, it isn't sufficient for patients
  • Never say anything about anyone you wouldn't say to them directly
Caring isn't just about being nice—it's about genuinely prioritizing patient wellbeing above all else. It means going the extra mile, even when it's inconvenient. It means having difficult conversations when necessary because you care enough to be honest.
The "family test" is our north star: Would this be good enough for your mother? Your child? If not, it's not good enough for our patients.
"Take care of the Patient and everything else will follow" — Thomas Frist, MD
Value #2
Innovative
What Innovation Means to Us
  • There is always a more efficient and effective way
  • We keep eyes open and look sideways for opportunities
  • When we innovate, we can grow
  • Have a thirst for improvement
Innovation doesn't always mean groundbreaking technology or revolutionary ideas. Sometimes it's a small process improvement that saves time. Sometimes it's borrowing a best practice from another industry. Sometimes it's simply questioning "Why do we do it this way?"
We encourage every team member to be alert for opportunities to improve. Challenge assumptions. Experiment with new approaches. Share what you learn. Innovation is everyone's responsibility, not just leadership's.
"Innovation is the ability to see change as an opportunity—not a threat" — Steve Jobs
Value #3
Holistic
What Holistic Means to Us
  • Consider the whole of the patient
  • Listen closely and practice emotional intelligence
  • Show empathy and understanding
  • A patient's solution will require a broad approach with many components
Healthcare isn't just about treating symptoms—it's about understanding the complete picture of a patient's life, health, and circumstances. Physical health connects to mental health, which connects to lifestyle, which connects to social support systems.
Being holistic means we listen deeply, ask questions beyond the obvious, and design solutions that address root causes, not just surface-level issues. It requires empathy, curiosity, and a genuine desire to understand each patient's unique situation.
"What you think, you become. What you feel, you attract. What you imagine, you create" — Buddha
Value #4
Effective
What Effectiveness Means to Us
  • We believe in the actions we take, because of the outcome
  • Inspire team members and customers through your actions
  • Quality is paramount
Good intentions aren't enough—we measure ourselves by results. Being effective means focusing on high-impact activities, not just staying busy. It means having the discipline to say no to distractions and yes to what truly moves the needle for patients.
Effectiveness also means quality over quantity. We'd rather deliver exceptional results for fewer patients than mediocre results for many. Our reputation is built on outcomes, and we protect that reputation fiercely by never compromising on standards.
"Efficiency is doing things right; Effectiveness is doing the right things" — Peter Drucker
Value #5
Passionate
What Passion Means to Us
  • Each day it will be our passion for better patient health outcomes that will continue to grow the business
  • Patients may create challenging situations, but we will passionately persevere to great outcomes
Passion is the fuel that powers everything else. It's what gets you out of bed excited about the day ahead. It's what helps you push through obstacles and setbacks. It's what makes the difference between a job and a calling.
Healthcare can be challenging—patients don't always follow plans, situations get complicated, and progress isn't always linear. Passion gives us the resilience to persevere, the creativity to find new solutions, and the energy to bring our best every single day.
We're not looking for people who just need a paycheck. We're looking for people who are genuinely excited about our mission and eager to make a meaningful difference.
"Timing, perseverance, and ten years of trying will eventually make you look like an overnight success" — Biz Stone (Twitter)
Our Aspirations
Our Aspirations
Beyond our core values, we hold certain aspirations that shape our identity and approach. These aren't requirements for joining the team, but they represent qualities we admire and strive to embody. They reflect our belief that being different—and being authentic—is a strength, not a weakness.
We Think Different
We don't accept "because that's how it's always been done" as a valid reason. We challenge conventions and seek better approaches.
We Stand for What We Believe In
We have the courage to advocate for patients and defend our standards, even when it's uncomfortable or unpopular.
We Own Our Weaknesses
We're honest about areas where we need to improve. Acknowledging shortcomings is the first step toward growth.
We Question Everything
Curiosity drives progress. We ask "why" repeatedly until we understand the root cause or find a better solution.
How We Work
Our Behaviors
Values are meaningless without behaviors that bring them to life. The following slides outline specific, observable actions that define how we operate day-to-day. These aren't aspirational—they're what you'll experience from day one and what's expected of you as a team member.
We Get Started Before Sunrise
Early starts reflect our commitment and work ethic. We maximize productive hours and set the tone for a successful day.
We Huddle Together to Start Every Day
Daily huddles align the team, surface issues early, and create opportunities to celebrate wins and support each other.
We Hold Each Other Accountable
Accountability isn't about blame—it's about caring enough to help teammates perform at their best and meet commitments.
We Have Fun But Take Our Responsibilities Seriously
We believe in enjoying the journey while never losing sight of the importance of our mission and the trust patients place in us.
We Understand Our Numbers & KPIs
Data drives decisions. Every team member should understand the key metrics that indicate success in their role and how those metrics connect to our broader mission. Numbers tell us what's working, what's not, and where to focus our energy.
This doesn't mean being buried in spreadsheets all day. It means having clear visibility into the handful of metrics that truly matter for your work—patient satisfaction scores, response times, conversion rates, quality indicators, or whatever measures success in your specific role.
When you know your numbers, you can proactively identify problems before they escalate, spot opportunities for improvement, and take ownership of your performance. You become a strategic contributor, not just someone following orders.
We invest in training everyone on basic data literacy and provide dashboards that make critical metrics accessible. Ask questions if you don't understand a number. Better yet, suggest improvements to how we measure and track progress.
We Are Accuracy Addicts
In healthcare, details matter. A small error in dosage, a miscommunication about allergies, a typo in patient records—these aren't just inconveniences, they can have serious consequences. That's why we're obsessed with getting things right.
Being an accuracy addict means double-checking before you submit. It means taking the extra minute to verify information rather than making assumptions. It means catching potential errors in your own work and graciously accepting corrections when others catch mistakes you've missed.
This doesn't mean being paralyzed by perfectionism—we still need to move quickly and make decisions with incomplete information. But within that context of action-orientation, we maintain relentless attention to accuracy where it counts most.
When you catch an error—whether yours or someone else's—flag it immediately and constructively. When someone points out your mistake, thank them rather than getting defensive. We're all on the same team, working toward zero errors.
We Measure Twice, Cut Once
This carpenter's wisdom applies perfectly to healthcare. It's faster to take a moment upfront to ensure you have the right information than to redo work or fix mistakes later. Planning prevents problems.
"Measure twice, cut once" means doing your homework before taking action. It means clarifying requirements before starting a project. It means asking clarifying questions rather than assuming you understand. It means checking your work before declaring it complete.
This philosophy saves time, reduces stress, and improves quality. The few extra minutes spent measuring prevent hours of rework and protect patient safety. It's a discipline that separates professionals from amateurs.
However, don't let this principle become an excuse for analysis paralysis. Sometimes you have enough information to move forward, even if you don't have perfect information. The key is being thoughtful about when to measure again versus when to make the cut with confidence.
We Deliberate Like the Tortoise & Execute Like the Hare
This principle resolves the tension between careful thinking and fast action. We invest appropriate time in planning and decision-making—considering options, gathering input, weighing consequences. We're thoughtful tortoises during deliberation.
But once the decision is made, we shift gears dramatically. We execute with speed and urgency, moving quickly to implement, learn, and adjust as needed. We become the hare in execution mode.
Too many organizations get this backwards—they rush decisions and then drag their feet on implementation. Or they deliberate endlessly, never committing to action. We do neither. We think deeply, then move fast.
The key is knowing when you're in each mode. During deliberation, resist the pressure to decide prematurely. During execution, resist the temptation to endlessly rehash the decision. Once we commit, we commit fully and move with urgency.
We Start Shifts & Meet on Time. To the Minute.
Punctuality isn't about being rigid or uptight—it's about respecting everyone's time and demonstrating reliability. When you arrive late, you're telling teammates their time is less valuable than yours. When you keep someone waiting, you're creating inefficiency and frustration.
Starting shifts on time ensures continuity of patient care during handoffs. Arriving to meetings on time allows us to make the most of our limited time together. Being punctual signals professionalism and respect.
"To the minute" might sound extreme, but it's intentional. When 8:00am means 8:03am or 8:05am, standards erode. Soon 8:00am means 8:15am. We say what we mean and do what we say.
If something truly unavoidable makes you late, communicate proactively. Let affected teammates know as soon as possible so they can adjust. Chronic lateness isn't acceptable—it suggests either poor time management or lack of respect for others.
This standard applies to everyone, from newest hires to senior leadership. Nobody gets a pass. It's one small way we demonstrate our commitment to excellence and accountability in everything we do.
We Love Sharing Knowledge
Knowledge hoarding is the enemy of great teams. When you discover something valuable—a better process, a useful resource, a lesson learned from a mistake—share it with others. Don't keep insights to yourself out of competitiveness or insecurity.
Sharing knowledge multiplies its value. When one person learns something and teaches ten others, the organization becomes exponentially smarter. When we freely share expertise, we all grow faster and deliver better patient outcomes.
This shows up in many ways: documenting processes so others can follow them, mentoring newer team members, speaking up in meetings to share relevant experiences, creating templates or tools that others can use, and being generous with your time when someone asks for help.
The best team members actively look for opportunities to share what they know. They don't wait to be asked—they proactively teach, document, and distribute insights. They measure success not just by their individual performance but by how much they've elevated everyone around them.
This collaborative spirit is what transforms a group of talented individuals into an exceptional team. It's how we ensure our culture and capabilities strengthen over time rather than becoming dependent on any single person.
Our Culture: Excellence Through Collaboration
NCC's culture champions care, innovation, holistic thinking, effective actions and passion. We empower every team member to contribute, fostering an environment where knowledge is openly shared to drive collective success and continuous improvement.
This overview highlights our core values. We encourage you to ask questions, share your insights, and actively help shape our evolving culture. Your voice matters.
